Finding a Spanish supplier seems easy until you need a specific one: a workshop for short runs, a haulier for an unusual route or a distributor in a region where you know nobody. Google returns platforms and big companies; small specialists, often the best, don't show up. Language is another barrier: many small Spanish manufacturers don't have an English website.
Where to look
Trade fairs and associations. Spanish sector fairs (IFEMA in Madrid, Fira in Barcelona, Feria Valencia) and industry associations remain the best place to meet serious suppliers.
Directories by activity and province. On IberiaData you also find sole traders and micro-businesses missing from large directories, and you can reveal the owner's phone.

Check before paying
- Ask for the tax ID and look it up; for companies, check the BORME for incorporation date. For EU trade, check the VAT number in VIES.
- Speak by phone with the person in charge.
- Ask for references.
- Start small with a trial order.
- Never pay 100 % upfront to a new supplier.
How to request a quote
What you need, quantity, deadline, specs or samples, one-off or recurring, and a reply deadline. Written in Spanish if you can: response rates rise noticeably.
Even if you're happy with your supplier, keep one or two alternatives located. The day the main one fails, you'll save weeks.
