Business insurance is something almost everyone needs and almost nobody compares. It renews automatically year after year, often with cover that no longer fits. For a broker that's an opportunity: you don't need to convince anyone they need insurance, only that theirs can be better.
What each client needs
| Business | Most needed cover |
|---|---|
| Service sole trader | Professional liability, income protection |
| Shop | Multi-risk premises, liability |
| Restaurant | Multi-risk, liability, business interruption |
| Transport | Fleet, goods in transit |
| 10-49 employees | Collective agreement, group health, accident |
| Professional firms | Professional liability, cyber |
Segment by size
- 0-2 employees: liability and income cover. Small ticket, high volume.
- 3-9: multi-risk, collective cover, first group policies.
- 10-49: group health, fleets, D&O. High ticket.
On IberiaData you filter by Spanish province and headcount band.
The opener that works: the review
Nobody wants to be sold insurance, but almost everyone accepts a review of the policy they have: "I work with several dental clinics in the province and I'm reviewing their professional liability limits, many are years old. When does yours renew?"
Follow-up is everything
Whoever is there at renewal wins. Log the date in your CRM and call 45 days before with a compared proposal.
Do it right
Insurance distribution has its own disclosure duties. Always introduce yourself as broker or agent, and with sole traders check the Robinson list and respect opt-outs.
