Verifactu: how to find Spanish SMEs and sole traders that must adapt their invoicing
For software vendors, resellers and accountants: who Verifactu affects, how to segment the Spanish market by size and province and which message gets the demo.

Rarely does a regulatory change create such a clear market. Hundreds of thousands of Spanish businesses that invoice with software must make sure it complies with the invoicing systems regulation (Royal Decree 1007/2023), known as Verifactu. Many don't know whether theirs does. Some don't know what it is. For international invoicing and ERP vendors, it's a door into the Spanish SME market.
According to the timetable in force when this article was written, the obligation starts on 1 January 2027 for corporate taxpayers and 1 July 2027 for everyone else. Always confirm on the Spanish Tax Agency website before using dates in your messaging.
Where the market is
In our directory of 490,000+ Spanish businesses:
- Companies (SL, SA…): half the records. Earlier deadline, more budget.
- Sole traders: the other half. More price-sensitive, more likely to leave it late.
- By size: two in three have fewer than three employees.
Two campaigns, two messages.
For companies
"The Verifactu deadline for companies starts in January and we're helping businesses in your sector get it sorted before Christmas. Do you know whether your current software already complies?"
The final question matters: many don't know, and that doubt is your meeting.
For sole traders
Less technical, more practical: "We'll set it up in an afternoon with your clients and invoice series, and you won't have to think about it again."
How to scale
Working hundreds of contacts? Use the IberiaData API to load companies by area and size into your CRM with phone and email.
What destroys trust
Exaggerating penalties, inventing dates or saying "the tax office is coming for you". It works for a week and burns your brand.
